Kenya eTIMS integration and compliance

Kenya's eTIMS requires every business to issue electronic tax invoices, and from 2026 the KRA validates the income and expenses you declare against eTIMS data. No valid eTIMS invoice increasingly means no deductible expense. We integrate your billing, POS, or ERP with eTIMS so your invoices and your deductions hold up.

All persons in business must issue electronic tax invoices through eTIMS. From the 2026 year of income, the KRA validates declared income and expenses against eTIMS data, so unsupported expenses are at risk.

  • QR codes on every invoice
  • Protects expense deductions

What is eTIMS (electronic Tax Invoice Management System) in Kenya?

eTIMS is the Kenya Revenue Authority's electronic Tax Invoice Management System. It replaced the older hardware-based TIMS with software options, and its scope is broad: all persons carrying on business in Kenya, including companies, partnerships, sole proprietors, professionals, Turnover Tax payers, and landlords, must issue electronic tax invoices, not only VAT-registered businesses.

The sharpest change is on the buyer side. From the 2026 year of income, the KRA validates the income and expenses declared in tax returns against eTIMS data, withholding records, and customs data. In practice this creates a no invoice, no deduction regime: expenses not backed by a valid eTIMS invoice are at risk of being disallowed.

eTIMS connects through an online sales control unit (OSCU) or a virtual one (VSCU), and invoices carry a QR code. We integrate your system so every sale is captured and every expense you claim is supported.

Dates and thresholds change, and scope depends on your exact situation. Treat this page as a starting point, confirm the detail with the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), and tell us what you run today, we will tell you plainly what an integration would involve.

How we help

Built into the software you already run.

We integrate eTIMS into your existing POS, ERP, or billing software through an OSCU or VSCU, so every sale is transmitted and every expense you claim is supported by valid eTIMS data. If your system cannot connect, we build or adapt one that can.

The 2026 validation change means eTIMS is now about protecting your deductions, not just avoiding a penalty. We make sure your records line up with what the KRA holds.
