What is UK e-invoicing (Peppol, planned) in United Kingdom?
The UK ran a public consultation on e-invoicing and digital reporting in 2025 and has since confirmed it intends to make e-invoicing mandatory for VAT invoices, with Peppol named as the core interoperability network. Public reporting points to a mandate from around April 2029 for B2B and B2G VAT transactions, but the full technical specification, format rules, and phasing are still to be published.
That does not mean there is nothing to do. Peppol e-invoicing already works in the UK voluntarily (the NHS has used it for years), and many of your international customers and suppliers already expect it. Getting Peppol-ready now means you trade more smoothly today and you are not caught in the rush when the mandate firms up.
We build to the EN 16931 standard and the Peppol network, so your readiness work holds its value whatever the final UK specification says.
